ARM ED DF.SP AR A DOES. BATTLE WITH POLICE. Warsaw, July 17. After an exciting wild west chase in motor cars through the main streets the city, the police captured three Communists. Two members of the police and one Communist were killed, whilst fourteen pedestrians and two other Communists wore wounded. The “Sunday Express’s” Berlin correspondent states that the men captured were thieves. The fight opened when two plain clothes policemen approached a group of throe thieves in me of the principal streets. The latter whipped out revolvers, and fired point blank hitting one policeman. The gunmen then dashed through the crowded streets, followed by policemen, on foot and mounted.

One of the gunmen turned and shot a policeman’s horse dead. The crowds rushed for shelter. Then one of the gunmen was brought down by a bullet in the head, and the other two sprang into a horse cab. flinging the driver into the roadway. Later they abandoned The cab. boarded a tramcar, jumped »'ff and ran into a doorway, where one collapsed through loss of blood. The other surrendered. Scores of pedestrians were wounded by stray shots. Each of the gang carried two revolvers and 200 rounds of ammunition.
