GENTRAL POWTR SCHEME.

MEETING OF BOARD. (Waipukurau Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Central Hawke’s Bay Power Board held at Waipukurau yesterday was presided over by Air. C. Pattison. The Government Life Insurance Office remitted £17,468, the balance of the £50,000 loan. As th© board has more in hand than required, it was decided to place £lO,OOO on fixed deposit for three months. Accounts amounting to £4922 6/9 were passed for payment. The board recently purchased the temporary, town hall subject to a lease, which terminates in December, to th© Borough Council, and tho latter applied for the further use of the building for a period of four to six weeks. It was pointed out that the new town hall would not be ready by the end of the year. The application was granted. The Finance Committee recommended the immediate erection of a garage and oil store in concrete on the section lately purchased at Waipukurau. The proposal met with a little opposition on the ground of expense and th© possibility that a new board, when elected, might decide to shift the headquarters from Waipukurau to Waipawfi. Four tenders were received and one was accepted. It was also decided to prepare plans of • the proposed alteration to the building purchased to make it suitable for office and storeroom pur. pases. The consulting engineers reported that the contractor had completed the pole erection for Waipawa, Otane and the north side of the Tuki Tuki river. Work was now proceeding on the main line between Waipukurau and the Sanatorium. All the wiring north of Waipawa had been completed and a start would bo made at Waipawa thia week.
