THE PICTURE HOUSES.

COSY DE LUXE. An uproarious mirthful comedy of a trio of unamanageable kids with no one to manage thtm, is the theme of the Master Picture now showing at the Cosy Theatre, Hastings. It is “The Country Kid,” Wesley Barry’s latest picture, a Warner Brothers’ classic of4he screen. Tho parts of the other two kids are played by “Baby” Bruce Guerin, four years old and a wonder; and “Spec” O’Donnell. This is the story written around tho fun-loving anfl boyish Wesloy, and shows him in the role of a young orphan, Ben Applegate, at once as mother, father and brother to his two younger kids. Other worries pile on him when his guardian uncle takes to questionable tactics, by pending the younger /kids to an orphanage, and then trying to rob Ben of the impoverished farm, left by his (mother. The wicked but well-conceivcd plan is almost carried through, but is nipped id itime, due to an exciting escape from the orphanage. Several dramatic scenes are played with great realism in Elinor Glyn’s story, ‘ ‘ The World’s a (Stage. ’ ’

This ability to get outside herself and show her own feelings is shoWn clearly in her portrayallof the title role in “Rosita.” her now United Artists' production, which is now showing at the Hastings Municipal Theatre. A most perfect continuity romance, thrills, £>athoab laughter, with $ touch of melodrama and spectacle, presents the work of Edward Knoblock in photoplay par excellence.
