PRICES OF METALS. I London, Sept. 8. Copper: Spot £63 3s 9d, forward £64 3s 9d. f Lead: £33 5s and £32 10s. Spelter: £33.2s 6d and £32 15s. Tin: £253 12s 6d and £254 7s 6d. Silver: Standard 2s 10Jd, fine 3s Id per ounce.—(A. and N.Z.; DAIRY PRODUCE. GRADING RETURNS. Wellington, Sept. 9. The figures of the Dairy Division of the Department of Agriculture show that salted butter graded for August, 1624, totalled 1875 tons and the unsalted five tons, a total of 1880 tons, compared with 2030 tons salted and nine tons unsalted, a .total of 2039 tons, for August last year, a decrease of 7.8 per cent. Cheese graded for August, 1924, comprised white 109 tons, coloured 99 tens, a total of 208(tons, compared with 182 tons white and 116 tons coloured, a total of 298 tons, a decrease of 30.2 per cent. Converting these figures into the butter-fat equivalent, there is a decrease of 9.2 per cent, in butter-fat pjoduction for the month as compared with August last year. Shipments of N.Z. produce arrived by Turakina last week and by Norfolk and Remuera this week. Estimated stocks of cheese on Ist September at London, Liverpool and Bristol were Canadian and American, 157,000 boxes; N.Z. and Australian, 51,800 crates; against 40,400 boxes and 20,400 crates respectively for same time last year. WOOL. Bradford market firm, prices for tops still going up. 64’s merino 6s 6d, 56’s super halfbred 4s 2d, 40’s prepared (coarse crossbred) 2s 4d. FRUIT. Strike has not been terminated but cool stored supplies for Wembley have been released. FRUIT REPORT. The following prices are now ruling: Pears.—P. The brokers report having held their weekly sale at Waipukurau yesterday, when they offered a small yarding of both sheep and cattle to a fair attendance of the public. The bidding for the better classes of cattle was spirited, but inferior isorts were hard to quit. Sheep were in fair demand, and sold at prices ruling at late -sales.
