BREAKWATER WHARVES.

REPAIRS TO PROCEED.

At yesterday’s meeting of the Napier Harbour Board an animated discussion took place on the condition of the breakwater wharves, the resident engineer stating that they were in such a state a s to risk of something serious happening. , . Mr. J .A. Miller said the thing had now happened which he and Mr. J. T. Blake had fought against some five or six years ago, but no notice was taken of them. For the last two or three years it had not been safe to bring a big boat alongside. Mr. Vigor Brown: “Is there a risk of heavy loads of goods falling through ? Mr. Huntley: Yes. lam frightened that when the board’s locomotives go over the wharves they will fall through.
