THE LUXOR TOMB.
GOLD STAVES AND BOWS.
ANOTHER REMARKABLE FIND
(Received 1, 9.40 a.m.) London, Jan. 31. A Luxor correspondent reports that the work of dismantling the shrines ig proceeding as rapidly as the conditions permit. Luxor is fast fillin'! up, river steamers arriving with full complements of passengers. Mr. Carter unwrapped a bundle of sticks, staves and bows found in the first shrine, which proved to be heavy gold and silver tubing of gorgeous workmanship, charming examples of eighteenth dynasty metal workers’ craft. When a gold stick was washed its beauty was remarkable. The whole find constitutes one of the most remarkable collections of royal appurtenances yet seen.—(“Sydney Sun" cable.)
