DIAMOND JUBILEE SHOW.

SUCCESSFUL EXHIBITION ASSURED. The near approach of the Hawke’s Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s Diamond Jubilee Spring Show is creating no small stir amongst intending exhibitors and their assistants as well as with the general public. The splendid exhibits in the sheep, cattle, and horse sections all have to be got ready for the show, and this is a matter requiring considerable skill and knowledge and entailing a great deal of labour. But the results are usually worth the efforts put forth to secure them. It is on all sides admitted that our show of stock is a very fine one indeed. This year it should be even better than usual. Not only are the entries for the show a record as far as numbers are concerned, they are likely to be quite up to the highest standard reached in past years with respect to quality. Nearly all the best breeders of the different classes of stock will be represented, and the display as a whole is liikely to be well worthy of the occasion. The outing is always such a pleasant one that both townspeople and country folk look forward to meeting each other on tho Hastings show ground year after year. It is essentially a rendezvous for town and country friends as well as a show possessing an abundance of attractions. And what an ideal picnic spot the carriage paddock makes. Each year it is availed of for this purpose by ever-increasing numbers of people who take advantage of the club’s kindly foresight in providinghot water free of charge in order to make tea for themselves and their families and lunch in real homely style. Then there are the sideshows, for the kiddies, and for the grown-ups, too, for that matter, and the many fine and interesting competitions each day. For those who take an interest in farming implements nad machinery, motor-cars, electric lighting systems, etc., will find plenty of displays worthy of their attention. Then the poultry and dog sections will have their attraction for many, and dog fanciers will no doubt be pleased to learn that the society is presenting a championship for the best dog or bitch,, any breed, in the show. With fine weather to help it along the Diamond Jubilee should be the society’s highwater mark of success. TRAIN ARRANGEMENTS.
