RUGBY FOOTBALL.
HASTINGS SUB-UNION. The Hastings Sub-union met last night, the tollowing being present: Messrs. .J. A. Fraser (chaw), L. Moser, D. O’Brien, A. Aiderman, H. Brown (secretary). It was decided to enter a strong protest to the New Zealand Rugby Union, through the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union, at the non-inclusion of M.A.C. in th© Moascar Cup competition. The Rovers were given permission to play Waipukurau juniors at Waipukurau next Saturday. It was decided that the third and fourth grade finals between the Hastings and Napier sections, tie played at The Ridge next Saturday, ’the third grade will be between M.A.C. and Firates, and the fourth grade between Rovers and H. 5.0.8. It was reported that the medal presented tor tlie best all-round player in the match against Poverty Bay was awarded to A. Kirkpatrick, on the selection of Mr. N. McKenzie.
SCHOOLS’ SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNEY.
Great interest is being manifested in the coming seven-u-side schools’ Rugby championship to bo decided on the Havelock Domain on Saturday next, September 15. Seven schools are expected to compete and there will be at least ten matches played, of 15 minutes each. In the afternoon, commencing at 1 o’clock, the running, championship will bo got off, after which the tournaments will continue at top speed. The teams will all be ready to take the field after each game is finished, so there will be no delay. Saturday promises to be a great day for the coming All Blacks.
At tiie conclusion of the day’s sport, Mr. J. H. Joll will present the trophies to the winners.
