BRITAIN’S PECULIAR POSSESSION WAR WON BY THE NAVY. MR I .LOYD GEORGE’S TRIBUTE. London, Sept. 10. Nlr Lloyd George, in receiving the freedom of Swansea, declared: “With a full inside knowledge of the facts, I say deliberately that but for the British Navy the Allies would have been defeated in the first year. Marshal Foch, though a brilliant general, could not realise the Navy’s importance. That is why the French could not ever be a maritime nation. Britain is the only country in Europe except Scandinavia possessing sea sense. The Allies did not realise the importance of the Navy, but withouFrt not a single man could have left England.
