LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
DR. THACKER IN ENGLAND. (Received 8, 8.55 a.m.) London, Aug. 7. Dr. Thacker, of Christchurch, New Zealand, was entertained by the Rugby League Council. He advocated that prominent English players should periodically visit New Zealand to play with and coach New Zealand teams, returning to England for the opening of the season. He also urged I the adoption of a substitute rule for injured players. Dr. Thacker claimed that the game was progressing to such an extent that the Dominion would lie abte, during the next two or three years, to send a purely Zealand team to England.
