The death occurred on Friday at Aramoho of Mrs. Jane Goss, who had been a resident of Wangauui for 16 or 17 years. She leaves two daughters. Mrs. A. Bathgate and Miss D. Goss, and a son. Mr. Lawrie Goss, of Hastings. to mourn their loss.

The death pf Mr. John Poland, father of Mt. H. Poland. M.P.. occurred at Auckland on Friday, at the age of 85 years. The late Mr. Poland arrived in New Zealand from Ireland in 1863, and shortly afterwards settled at Tuakau. where he resided until a few years ago. when he went to Auckland to live.

Mrs M.B.E.. who for four years has wonted diligently on the Auckland City Council, and for other New Zealand local bodies, is at present in Sydney, and intends touring Australia, and later the Continent and England, where she will see what other people and other lands are doing in the matter of munieipal affairs
