DUMPING IN NEW ZEALAND. THE TARIFF EVADED. Dunedin. August 8. At a meeting of the Manufacturers’ Association, it was stated that l>ots and German leather.were being dump<! in the Dominion, and that Germany was practically getting the finished product in a slightly changed form into New Zealand under the preferential tariff. One speaker said 500 pairs of boots were landed at a cost of 7/11, and within three days only ten pairs were left on the shelves. Another said the position had already been reflected if trade during the past fortnight. Nobody seemed to bo buying. The British manufacturer was right up against it. I It was decided to forward all corresI pondence on the subject to the Ministei of Customs.
