Criminal Lunatics

According to a message from Chester, Illinois, armed posses recaptured all but elevon of the 26 insane criminals, many of whom are murderers, who escaped from Illinois Criminal Insane Hospital. Two guards were stabbed and one maniac Mas shot dead in a battle preceding the escape. beventy-five inmates were in an open air cage for exercise when they attacked the guards, and wrenched the bars apart with wooden benches. Other guards, who rushed to the scene, prevented wholesale escapes, but 26 eluded pursuit overnight, causing a panic in the surrounding neighbourhood, all houses being barricaded—(A. and NJS.)
