PROHIBITION IN AMERICA.

WHISKY RUNNING FROM SCOTLAND. A SENSATIONAL REPORT. London, March 15.

According to a sensational report emanating from Edinburgh, a powerful syndicate in the Scotch whisky trade has been formed to run large cargoes of spirits to the United States. One of the chief participants is declared to be a well-known Wall street financier. Thirty ships will be employed. The syndicate has received an initial order for 100,000 cases, valued at £50,000. It is not known where such a quantity is procurable, because good Scotch was never scarcer than at present.—(A. and N.Z.)
