H.B. AUTUMN SHOW.

RECORD ENTRIES RECEIVED.. On Tuesday evening next, from 7 to 10 o’clock the Hawke’s Bay Autumn Show will be open to the public, and on Wednesday from. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and There are so many attractions that nobody will want to miss one of them. Tliis year’s show is likely to be a record one in every way (it is already a record in number of entries), and th© public have happy recollections of previous autumn shows to guide them. It would be impossible to estimate the value Uie autumn shows have been to this district in the stimulus they have given to fruit-growing alone. Hastings is now one of the chief fruit growing centres, if it is not actually tlie largest in the Dominion, and the Autumn Show never fails to attract an exceptionally large entry in this section. It has been stated by good judges from other parts that the Hawke’s Bay Autumn Show is the leading fruit show of the Dominion, and judging by the very large number of entries which have been received this year, the show will still retain its title. It is a distinct encouragement to those who have so strenuously worked to make th© Autumn Show a success, to find their efforts so well rewarded, a s has been the case each year th© show has been held. It is not merely as a fruit show that tn© Autumn Show claims recognition and attracts the show-loving public. There is no section of the show which is not well filled, and with a record total to top off the score, it is safe to predict that this year will notch a point a little bit higher than ha fl previously been reached. Tlie poultrymen, the vegetable growers, etc., will all have plenty to look at and to discuss, for there are particularly large entries in each of these sections, and it is expected that the exhibits will be more than usually good. Tli© competitions are a big source of attraction always, and commencing with the div* trial at 8.30 a.m. there will be something of an interesting character right through the day. The apple-packing competition will start at 10.30 a.m.. and in the afternoon an exhibition of yarding by the winning dogs, leaping maicnes. and the horse events are set down for competition. There will be side-shows galore. and when morninn- or afternoon tea time comes round hot water will be provided free of charge to picnic parties. His Excellency the GovernorGeneral and Ladv Jellicoe and party have signified their intention of being present on Wednesday afternoon.
