TURF. THE PRINCE GETS A THIRD. (Received 15, 9.45 a.m. ) London, March 12. The Prince of AVales rode Just An Idea in the Lancers’ Hunt Cup, at Tetbury, finishing third. He received un ovation. Nominations for the twelve handicap events received by the Tailiajie Athletic and Axemen’s Club for the sports meeting on Alarch 17 and 19 closed with a toital oi 532, the average being 44 competitors in each handicap event. Th e total nominations is over 100 more than previously telegraphed. Axemen and runners are arriving from all parts of New Zealand. The AVestlaml contingent arrived last night. Heavy rain fell last night and this morning, but the weather has cleared now. and there is every promise of good weather. It is. expected there will be 5000 visitors in the town on Satrday. aiid that all except half a dozen of those nominated will compete. Subscriptions were fixed at 8/ for seniors and juniors and 5/6 for thirds, each subscription to include insurance and a levy for a reserve jersey fund lor the club.

The committee was reconunepded to enter a senior, junior, 'and two third grade teams for the competitions. It was decided to try to arrange a match with Dannevirke Old Boys’ Club at Napier at Easter.

A general meeting of the Rovers Club will be held in the Oddfellows’ Hall to-morrow evening, at 7.30, when important business will be transacted.
