FOREIGN EXCHANGE DISORGANISED. (Received 8, 9.15 a.m.) London, Jan. 6. The breakdown of the conference at Paris disoganised foreign exchanges. The French franc touched 67 and closed at, 66.55 to the pound sterling. The Belgian franc, is 72.30. Berlin marks are 39,500 and Rome lire 92 .1-9 to the pound sterling.—(A. and N.Z.) The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house under date January 3: — Tallow: Wc quote present spot values for the following descriptions: Fine mutton 43s 6d per cwt; good beef 41s 9d ; mixed 375. Market slow. SATURDAY MARKET REPORTS. Messrs. Beard, Bullen and Co. report as follows on their Saturday market sale: —We again offered full pens of poultry and pigs and a small yarding of dairy stock, at our sale on Saturday last and quote as follows:— Extra heavy table fowls made up to 8/4, good to 8/-, others 6/- to. 7/10, ducks 7/- to IU/2, young \V.L. cockerels 4/- to 24/- doz. we penned 79 pigs. Good forward weaners made up to 14/6, others 5/- to 11/6, slips 11/-, to 17/6, L. porkers 26/- to 31/9. Dairy stock: i Ayr.-J. cow springing £4 o/-, 1 weaner heifer £2 5/-, 3 H. calves £l, 1 J er. cow springing £9. We sold a large quantity of fruit and produce and disposed of several sets uf harness, 1 gig and sundries at good prices. Messrs. Gill Bros, report on business done at the Hastings market sale oil Saturday as follows: —Business is still feeling the effects of the holidays and entries were not up to the usual standard. 'The following sales were made and prices realised:—Poultry: Table birds made up to 6/8, others b/- to 6/4, cockerels 2/2 to 4/ /8, small turkey hens 18/-. ducks 8/- to 8/4, all at per pair. Pigs: Weaners made up to 18/- others 15/- to li/-, light porkers to 20/-, heavy porkers 3d/-. We have a good market lor pigs and want consignments. Dairy stock: Ayr.-Jer. cow on drop <to 12/6, do £7. Aged orchard horse £5. General: Gig £l3, do. £lO 17/6, set harness £6 lu/-, £5 J 2/6 gent's saddle £4 10/-, gent’s bike £4 io/-. Fruit: Peaches 4/- to 6/-, apples 3/- to 3/3, apricots 5/ m 6/6, cherry, plums 2/9, to 3/-, pears 2/- to 3/-, all at per half case, black currants 1/3 lb., new potatoes 2,'5 benzine tin, 1| cwt sack lots 10/4. We also sold a quantity of harness* and general farm sundries, at ruling market rotes. We have for next Saturday 60 4-month pullets, W. and B. Leghorns and black iVlinorcas. DAIRY PRODUCE. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Na pier* have received the following cabie irom their head office, London, dated 4th January, 1923:— Butter: Market firm. We quote: New Zealand salted 196/- per cwt., Danish 216/-, finest Australian salted 192/-, unsalted, 196/-, G.A.Q. 186/-. Cheese: Market firm. New Zealand coloured 130/- per cwt., white 132/-, Canadian 134/-.
