ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
MAN CUTS HIS THROAT. Sergeant Hogan received word vesterday morning that a man had been found with his throat .cut lying in a creek near St. George’/s road, and he sent Constable Brenchley, who was accompanied by Dr. Macdonell, to the scene of the occurrence. It appears that the name of the unfortunate man is Thomas Hunt, a labourer, aged 58, who was staying with his son-in-law, Mr. D. Epplett, St. George’s road. Mr. Hunt arrived at Mr. Epplett s place on December 30, saying that he could not get any work and that he was unable to sleep. He was asked to stay for a few weeks and on Saturday at 7.30 he retired to bed. At 9.30 a.m. yesterday it was found that Hunt was not in his room, but it w T as thought he that he had gone for a walk. At 10.50, however, he was discovered in the creek, stated, with his throat cut. the windpipe being completely severed ,and a razor lying in front of him. He was conveyed to the Royston Hospital, where he was treated by Drs. Macdonell and JohnstoA, and where he now lies in a precarious condition. Hunt is a married man with a grown-up family.
