CRIME IN NEW SOUTH WALES.
UNDESIRABLES FROM NEW ZEALAND.
|fl (Received 5 9.10 a.m.)
Sydney, Jan. 5. The “Daily Telegraph,” dealing with the influx of criminals and the need for exchange of detectives, says attempts to establish a scheme for interchange of detectives between New South Male\and New Zealand failed, owing to the lack of interest displayed by the Dominion authorities. Arguing the value of such an exchange, the “Telegraph” states that New South Males has recently suffered an epidemic of safe blowing, tliere having been 'fifteen cases in a few months. When the offenders were caught they proved to be New Zealand criminals. Had New Zealand had detectives serving here, like other States have, the epidemic might have been effectively handled.—(A. and N.Z.)
