MOTOR CYCLIST KILLED.

STRUCK BY LOCOMOTIVE.

• Christchurch, Jan. 4. A collision between a motor cycle and a train at Rangiora this evening resulted in the death of Janies Stewart. aged 29, married, teller at the Union Bank. Rangiora. When approaching the Ayres street crossing deceased evidently noticed tlie train approaching, and applied his brakes, but the cycle skidded about 14 yards and was struck by the locomotive. Heath was instantaneous. TAIHAPK MOTOR ACCIDENT. Taihape. Jan. 4. At the inquest on the body of Maurice Morgan, of Napier, who was thrown 7’o feet down, into the Moawhango river on Christmas Day, as the result of a car accident, the evidence disclosed that deceased’s neck was broken and his face badly injured. A verdict was returned that deceased met his death by the capsizing of a car into the Moawhanga river through tlie bursting of a tyre. A rider was added that it be an instruction to the Rangitikei County Council to have the road where the accident occurred strongly fenced or otherwise’ suitably protected. THE JOHNSONVILLE SENSATION. POLICE STILL SEARCHING. Wellington, Jan. 4. There are no fresh ddelopments in connection with the finding of the body of an infant buried at Johnsonville. A posse of police are engaged digging on the property on which the body was found. The occupier of the premises, Cooper, and his wife, are at present held by the police on several charges.
