SUNDAY RECREATION.
SOUTH AFRICAN BISHOPS' PRO
NOUNCEMENT
Received 8, 8.45 a.m.)
Capetown, Dec. 7. The bishops of the Anglican Church of the province of South Africa have issued a pronouncement on the subject, of Sunday observance, in which they insist on the primary importance of public worship, but sec no harm in recreation which conflicts neither with public worship nor rest, and the refreshment which the community and the individual alike require. They deprecate however, the extent to which organised public, sports, picnics and excursions are robbing the people of the atmosphere of quiet which should obtain.—(A. and N.Z.)
