HAWKE'S BAY SHOW.
With the ini rease of dairying in the district it is only to be expected that the dairy cattle section in connection with the Hawke’s Bay A. and P. Society’s spring shows is becoming more popular every year, and this fact is fully realised by the committee. In addition to the ‘purebred classes for Ayrshires. Friesians. Jerseys, milking Snorthorns and Red Polls, the latter classes l>eing inserted for the first time, there are a number of classes for grade and crossbred cows and heifers, and intending exhibitors will note that in the latter classes the two-year-old heifers in milk may also compete with the aged cows in their respective classes The Heretaunga Dairy' Company again offer their prizes for butter fat competition open to suppliers of the company, and this comnetetition will be conducted on the show grounds as previously, instead of on the exhibitors’ farms. The open butter fat competition is also included for which a challenge cup is offered in addition to the cash prizes. A students’ judging competition has. been included in the dairy section, and no doubt thera will he keen competition in this class. , The pig section is also, becoming more popular and this year’s schedule includes classes for all the well-known breeds in addition to classes for porkers and bacon pigs. Intending exhibitors are reminded that all entries close on Wednesday week. 4th October, and that entries may be made at the society’s office, Tennyson street. Napier, or at Mr. F. C. Wilkinson’s office. Queen street, Hastings.
