PARTY FUNDS.
NONE TOO PLENTIFUL. (Special to “Tribune.”) Wellington, Sept. 27. There were brief references to party funds and the contributors thereto in the House when the introduction of the Land and Income Tax Bill was under discussion. Labour members had suggested that the Prime Minister was proposing to give concessions to big men so that they could contribute to a greater extent to his party’s funds. The Prime Minister said he never refused a copper when it was offered. However, big land owners just now had no money, for party funds. Mr. Parry: You will see to that. Mr. McCallum: Will you tell us your debit balance ? The Prime Minister: Our what? Mr. McCallum: Our party has a debit balance just now. The Prime Minister: What is your party ? ■, Mr. McCallum: The Liberals. The state of the Reform party’s funds remained a mystery.
