CHINA.
SUSPENDS BOXER INDEMNITY. Pekin, Sept. 25. Despite a warning from the foreign legations .and against the advice of Parliamentarians, who declare that the step is unconstitutional. Cabinet has announced the suspension of the Russian Boxer indemnity, totalling 7,000,000 taels annually, and the issuance of a loan of 10,000,000 dollars, which will be absorbed by Pekin bankers. It is expected the loan will bring the Government 8,000.000, which the bankers insist must Be spent in the payment of police and soldiers protecting the city and other local administrative expenses. It is understood the Russian Soviet has threatened reprisals for tho suspension of the indemnity.—(a. and N.Z.)
