RUSSIAN FAMINE RELIEF FUND
The Havelock North committee of the fund reports that it held its final meeting on Tuesday. The committee undertook its work for three months and has met with a most generous response for which it expresses grateful thanks. The ladies’ sub-committee has collected and made clothing which it valued at £2OO and donations amount to £290. Donations already acknowledged £264 10/5, final proceeds irom the 1/- funds £25 9/7; total £2uo. The latest cable received states that the harvest in many districts in Rus sia is largely a failure and the peasants and children are still suffering the greatest privation. It has been a great privilege to this committee, and they are sure to the district too. to have taken some small share in assisting the relief committees who are continuing their heroic work under such terrible conditions.
