In the evening there will 11 be a service of Intercession in connection with the problems now occupying the attention of the Empire. The quarterly meeting of the Court Ruahine was held last evening in St. s Alary’s Hall, there being a record <it- ’• tendance. C. R. Bro. Cheggwiddcn pre--0 sided. Two propositions were received e and a fair amount of important business was transacted. C. R. Cheggwiddcn s announced that Bro. Haycock had won t the euchre tournament and Bro. F. S. 0 Hopkinson had won the crib tourna- •- Bient. Bro. S. Annand donated a tro- . phy for the next tournament. Final arrangements were made for the card 1 tournhment with 1.0.0. F. next Wedp nesday Arrangements were also completed for the visits from the Napier and Dannevirke Courts on October sth. SPORTING CLUB. A committee meeting of the Waipu kurau Athletic and Cycling Club was 1 held in Manning’s sample rodms. Mr W. Adanur presiding. There were Also present:—Messrs W. J. Alahoney, F. H. - Manning, G. L. Chatwin, W. Alitchell, s A. McConchie, C. Thomas, G. Dowick and the secretary (Air L. Alaloney). * Apologies were received from Air AL I Symons and Air Fish for their absence. On Air Chatwin’s proposal it was de- | cidcd to hold the annual sports meeting s on Boxing Day. ? Air Thoms moved that the members’ 1 ticket should admit member and lady, ' seconded by Air Dowick and carried. It was decided to hold a meeting on . Monday evening next for the purpose j of making arrangements for the sports . programme. , The chairman pointed . out the importance of the meeting and I requested every member of the com- ; rnittee tef be present.
