NAPIER CLUB. SUCCESS OF RECENT CARNIVAL. A meeting of the executive of the Napier Swimming Club was held last evening, when Mr A. Russell presided and there were also present: Messrs T. C. Hobbs-Jones, E. D. Berry, A. W. H. King, C. E. Hounsell, S. Stacpoole„ K. Bryant, and E. C. Robieson. Accounts amounting to £7l 4s lOd were passed for payment The treasurer (Mr Robieson) presented a balance-sheet concerning the last carnival, at which Miss Hoeft appeared. This showed a credit of £B4 6s lid . Included in the debits was an amount of £l3 8s 6d paid to the Borough Council for rental for the baths for the one night. The executive passed a vote of thanks to the officials, especially the secretary (Mr C. E. Hounsell), treasurer, and Mr L. C. Rolls, for their efforts in making the carnival such a brilliant success. Special votes of thanks were accorded Mr E. D. Berry, who arranged for the visit of Misses Pauline Hoeft and Piri Page and made all the arrangements in connection therewith, and to Mr T. A. Heath, of the Provincial Hotel, who entertained the visitors as his guests during the stay in Napier, thus assisting the club to regain a satisfactory financial position. The executive expressed its appreciation of the services rendered by Mrs L. Freedjman, Messrs J. Y. Hannay, F. Tyne and the caretakers at the Municipal Baths.
