HASTINGS BUILDING BY-LAWS.

(To the Editor). Sir,—I should like to know when the temporary permit, granted lor the erection of those unsightly sheds, used as timber mills, off Rivers lea- road, expires. About twelve months ago someone wrote complaining about tne erection of such flimsy structures. lite building inspector ‘stated that a temporary permit only had been granted, and that he had not power to object to the erection of such premises. Surely the inspector has the power to see that the buildings are ejected in accordance with our by-laws. A more miscellaneous number of sheds it is impossible to conceive. To add to this jumble there is abput half an acre of the adjoining paddock covered with sawdust. If this untidy method of disposing of the refuse is not against the by-laws, the sooner they are amended the better for the town. It is most unfair to property owners and residents in the neighbourhood. I feel that it is the council’s duty to inspect the and form their opinions on the matters I have mentioned. I am, etc., tT ..
