BLAZE AT PALMERSTON.
FOUR SHOPS DESTROYED. Palmerston N., January 4. A fire shortly after midnight gutted four shops, the property of Henry Doreen, in Main street West. They were occupied by Gray ~ (butcher), Ricketts (tobacconist), Wong Shun (fruiterer), and Joe Lee (laundry). The contents were destroyed, and the occupants are heavy losers. Later. The fire insurances on the four shops were £l,OOO- on Ricketts’ stock £2OO, and Wong Sluing’ s £175.
