WIN FOR WELLINGTON. Wellington, Jan. 3. The I’lunket Shield match between Wellington and Canterbury was concluded to-day, resulting in the home team defeating the visitors by eight, wickets. The playing conditions improved considerably since the previous day, the wicket at midday being as hard and true as could be desired. Canterbury’s second innings closed for 127, Blunt 54, Sandman 18 and Grant 16. Brice two for 24, McGirr three for 47, Barclay two for 21 and Hiddleston two for 21 divided the wickets. Wellington were left to get 177 runs to win, and this they did with the loss of two wickets. Baker 63 not out, Lambert 60 not out and Hiddleston 41 were the run getters.
