WASHINGTON DELEGATE.
CONGRATULATIONS FOR SIR JOHN SALMOND. Wellington, Oct. 17. Before the Appeal Court rose this morning, Sir Francis Bell, AttorneyGeneral, said he wished, on behalf of the Bar, to congratulate Sir John Salmond on his appointment as New Zealand’s representative at the Disarmament Conference in Washington. He was quite sure that Sir John Salmond, at the conference, would give satisfaction to the country. The profession was gratified that so distinguished a lawyer and judge had been selected as New Zealand’s representative. Sir John Salmond, replying, after thanking Sir Francis Bell for his kind remarks, said he. realised the importance of the responsibilities placed upon him, and hoped he would be able to justify the confidence that had been placed in him.
