1 HASTINGS STREET EXTENSION. FURTHER INFORMATION SOUGHT 1 Cr. Hobson lias given notice to move the follqwing motion at the Napier Borough Council meeting:—“That a furtfier statement be prepared informing the council of the exact position relative to the extension of the tramyay to Kinross White street, including the following particulars and that aH correspondence with reference to the railway crossing be placed on the table:— “(1) An account of the negotiation between the council and the railway or Public Works Dpartments re the crossing of the railway lines in Hastings street. “(2) Stating the years when tho first and final communications were received from the department. “(3) \\ hat would be tho estimated financial position in the way of net profit or loss on this line if * extended across the railway to Kinross White street under the conditions stipulated by the Railway Department? “( I) W hat were the alternative proposals suggested by tho council officers and their approximate costs? “(5) Did tho last loan proposal put before th » ratepayers ‘to borrow £20,200 for the completion of tramway extensions to Kinross White street’ provide lor actually completing tho trainway to Kinross White Street ? “(6) What further sum would it be necessary to borrow to complete tho tramway to Kinross White street including the building ol the roadway and the laying down of the tramway track? “(7) W hat was tho result of tho personal interview between tho Alayor and tho town clerk and tho Government engineer recently hold in Wellington ?”
