HEAVY THUNDERSTORM.
A heavy thunderstorm broke over Hastings and Napier to-day about noon, travelling from the south. The thunder •was very loud, one peal being especially deafening. There ■were short showers of hailstones. A thunderstorm in this district on to-day’s date was predicted by Air C. Wraggc, the meteorologist, about three weeks’ ago. No disturbance of electrical and telegraphic apparatus occurred. At 2.30 the sun was again shining, the ground in the meantime having had another good drenching. The lightning struck the electric light and telephone wires at the Hastings Y T .AI.C.A. Hut, fusing both anti temporarily disconnecting telephone communication.
