The “Daily Telegraph” Smyrna correspondent states that Greek sources estimate that the Kemalists lost 4000 .ud and 10,000 wounded in the seven days’ battle at Eskishehr. which extended for 43 miles. The Turks erected numerous forts on all the surrounding mountains, whereof the Greeks had to carry twenty by direct assault with the bayonet. When the Kemalists retreated they took up a position 30 miles east of Eskishehr, where the railway is flanked by mountains, sometimes 4000 feet high. Here fighting is going on. —(A. and N.Z.)
