BRITISH AMERICA.
NEW COMMONWEALTH PROPOSED. CANADA AND COLONIES. TO MAKE POLITICAL UNION. Washington, May 24. The establishment of a confederation of British American countries, to include all the British colonies, Bahamas Barbados, Bermuda, Jamaica, Leeward Islands, Trinidad, Windward Islands, and possibly British Guiana, is reported here to be under consideration. The British Dominions and possessions in North, South and Central America are to be united into tho Commonwealth of British America. It is the latest development of tho union begun by the Canadian Confederation in 1867. Representatives AT the British possessions in America amended the confederation in Ottawa last year, when a trade agreement was made. It is planned to convert this agreement into a political union.—(A. and N.Z )
