TO PURIFY THE STAGE.
BILL TO BE INTRODUCED. LICENSES FOR EMPLOYERS. London, Feb. 8. A bill designed to purify the stage by licensing employers is to be introduced in the House of Lords. It provides that from March 31st theatrical employers cannot employ performers at theatres, music halls, circuses, films and in the making of films without the approval of the Licensing Council, consisting of a barrister, presiding, three members of the Actors’ Association, and three members of the Variety Artists ’ Federation. Licenses will be renewed yearly.
