BAND CONTEST.

Danncvirke, Feb. 16. The North Island Brass Band B Grade Contest was continued to-day, the military two-step competition being decided this afternoon in the presence of a big crowd of spectators, with the following result:—Marton, 251| points, 1; Dannevirke, 251> points, 2; Palmerston North, 246 A, 3; Hamilton, 2454. 4; Temperance Guards, Auckland, 2371, 5; Hastings, 2335, fi,’ Auckland Defence. 2274, 7. I At the annual meeting of the North Island Brass Bands Association thanks was expressed to Dannevirke for ta.kI ing up the running of the contest at I such short notice. Twenty-five bands are now affiliated. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £6l 19/3.

A ballot between Wellington and Auckland resulted in Wellington being chosen.
