IMPERIAL PARLIAMENT.
THE ADDRESS-IN-REPLY. MR. CLYNES’ AMENDMENT. (Received 16, 1.45 p.m.) London, Feb. 15. Mr. J. R. Clynes, on behalf of the Labour Party, lodged an amendment to the Address, regretting that the King’s speech did not recognise the right of genuine unemployed to work, or adequate maintenance. Following the mover and seconder of the Address, Mr. H. H. Asquith expressed satisfaction that legislation foreshadowed covered comparatively a small area, comnared with speeches in recent years. He welcomed the meeting of Allied Premiers and representatives of Germany and Turkey, in London. and clesirec! to know the scope and purpose of the conference.—(A. and N.Z.)
