PICTON REGATTA.
Picton, Feb 16. The Championship Regatta is being held in beautiful weather, with a slight v breeze. Results:— .Maiden Fours.—Wellington I. Picton 2, Poverty Bay 3. Also started : Blenheim and Wairau. Won by two lengths, one length between second and third. Time 5.49 2-5. Junior Pairs. —Wairau 1, Poverty Bay 2, West End No. 1 3. Also started : Picton, Star and Wanganui. An exciting finish, the placed pairs being bunched. Time, 6.55 4-5. BREEZE STOPS RACE. The rtnrth-cast breeze increased before th' due. After sheltering awhile under tlm lee of Mabel folnuJ, the crews returning to (lie sheds and tho race was postponed till later.
