hi registering a revolver at Stratford. an ex-soldier expressed much satisfaction at being able to keep it. “1 owe my life to it,” he said “We were in a tight corner at Passchendale. many of the boys lying slaughtered by my side, and noticing a revolver on the ground. 1 picked it up and let blaze at a German officer who wa<? taking aim at me. He fell, and I turned round to find other Huns pressing us closely. Again I sighted a German with a gun up, and I got him through the wrist, the weapon falling to the ground. 1 was lucky, because I didn’t know even that the revolver was loaded when I picked it up. 1 would not like to part with it now.”— May bo true, but lots of Diggers will smile.
