If the bleeding which came against him at Randwiick does not recur his meeting with Amythas in the Stead Memorial Cup will provide one of the most interesting items at the C.J.C. spring fixture. B. Mr. W. B. Kemball has sold Negambo to Mr. H. Hassall, of Riverslea (H. 8. Demagogue is to fulfil his engagements at the A.B.C. Spring Meeting. Alteration. 7.2, should run well forward in the Mitehelson Cup. At the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday the New Zealand Jockeys Association got judgment against five jockeys for fees totalling £73 9s ■ and costs £lO 6s 6d. > Mr. S. Waddell intends taking Woden and the two-year-old Anomaly north for j the A B.C. meeting. A Wellington punter, who is employed in one of the large hotels’ in the city, played up his winnings on the first day on Royal Stag in the last race, taking nearly £lOOO off the machine. The betting on the Wellesley Stakes was very heavy as between Mermin and Rational, and out of a pool of' £10,459 invested on the race the pair carried £6615. Glen Canny did not run up to expectations at Wellington, and his owner may decide not to get on for the N.Z. Cup. A Wellington writer says:—The Champion Plate, though run at a time when the course was very cut up, was well contested, but in the end that good sort, Amythas, beat the opposition pointless. The field went out of the straight and turned into the back stretch well bunched, but just before reaching the seven furlongs post Arrowsmith was rushed to the front. The speedy black quickly got a break on the field, and round the bend to the straight he was a long way clear. He still had a chance at the bottom of the 1 straight, but he djd not continue his run,

and Karo, who had made up a lot of ground, was going so well that she looked likely to win by a good margin. However, at the distance, Amythas went through the field fast, and with a magnificent finishing run cut down Karo and won by three lengths.
