It is uncertain whether Britain will be represented at the Olympic Games. Contrary to anticipations, the Government refused expenses, despite the King’s donation of £lOO. The public appeal has hung fire; £3.000 has been subscribed, but £lO,OOO is wanted. The British Consumers’ Council's report recommends that the Commonwealth be invited to ship larger quantities of jam for which there appeared to be a growing demand. Colonel L. C. S. Amery (Undei Secretary for the Colonies) in the House of Commons. informed Ixird Robert Cecil that he will consult the Government, regarding laying on the table of the House correspondence between Britain and New Zealand on indenturing Chinese coolies for Samoa. .Mr. E. S. Montagu (Secretary for India) in the House of Commrrtis said he understood, that Ghandi was. pre paring to boycott the Prince of Wales' visit to India, but the disloyal movement found little favour. Mr. Montagu was confident that the Prin-e would receive ;r welcome equalling his reception in other parts of the Empire. Ibe .Jerusa'em Press urges the appointment of Weisomann, Blunders, and Sokelotf as a triumvirate to administer local affairs. Mr. Samuel in a. speech predicted wonderful indus trial and other developments in Palestine within three, years. The Indian Office announces that a British force on the tenth bombarded a hostile Mahsud stronghold in Waziristan. It mot little opposition, but the tribesmen actively followed the force as it returned to camp, killing 27 and wounding 29. The enemy’s los«e.s are unknown. Sir James Allen has returned to London from a six days’ visit to New Zealapd soldiers’ graves in France.
