COAL PRODUCTION.
PUKEMIRO MINE CLOSED. «. Auckland, .Tub- 29. Tho Pukemiro coal mine at Hiintly has been idle since Tuesday. Tho secretary of the Pukemiro Colleries Company this morning stated that tho trouble has really arisen through tho demand for higher rates of pay. Thia demand has come through the union which controls the Pukomiro men. Ar* official statement indicates that tho directors have the matter in hand. No coal is coming out from the mine, ami there is some possibility of the mine being closed indefinitely.
