FIRE BRIGADES' COMPETITIONS.
PROPOSAL TO HOLD IN NAPIER. A public meeting to consider the proposal that the New- Zealand Fire Brigade Association’s competitions should be held in Napier eariy next year, was 'held in Napier last overling. Mr. P Ashcroft presided. It was pointed out that the Borough Council had agreed to put a water main costing about £350, into McLean Park, but a guarantee of £750 was required before the firemen would Lo brought here After considerable discussion, :t v.ax decided to ask the Association to allot the competitions to Napier and a financial committee to raise a guarantee was appointed as follows:—-Messrs E. Hyde, L. Pickering, R. Thomas, C. L. Thomas F. 0. Tattle, J. B. Andrew and W. E. Hill. Ground Committee:--Cr. W. .1. McGrath and others to be appointed by the brigades. The appointment of oilier committees was deferred pending ihe result of the Finance Committee’s effort to raise the guarantee. Mr. iS. P. Spiller was appointed secretary.
