The National Steeples resultedlolans 1. Kinlark 2. Doiran 3. Eighteen starters. Wooloo was first away. Aintree fell at the abattoirs and Cobram fell opposite the stand the first time round. lolans took charge at the bridge and jumped the last, fence in advance of Doiran, behind coming Compromise, Kinlark, Sir Prim and Epictetus. lolans drew away with ease and won by seven lengths, four lengths between second and third. Sir Prim was fourth and Kybas last. Time 6.151—a record for the race.
