BETTER THAN NORMAN ROSS. A new world’s record was established m the National A.A.U. swimming l he ta " k .. of the Detroit Athletic Club on April 10. Swimming under the colours of the Detroit A.C in the 220 yards event, Ted Cann set a mark of 2.19 4-5, displacing the former record of 2.21 3-5, held bv Noruan Ross. Clement Brown. of the Chicago Athletic Association was second, nosin'' out Perry McGillivray, of the Illinois A.C., by a scant foot. Cann assumed the lead after 150 yards, and maintained it to the finish, winning by seven yards.
