BOXINC NOTES.

A meeting of the executive of the Hawke’* Bay Boxing Association was held at Hastings last night. The balance-sheet from the last tournament, which was approved for submittal to the next general meeting of the Association, showed a profit amounting to £265. Twenty-five per cent, of this (£66) is to be donated to the Soldiers* Memorial Fund. The Association also coßecthd £& for the same fund at the Training rooms of the principals. A Press Association telegram last night from Dunedin stated that “Tommy” (Tren and Meekin, of Australia, meet at that city on February 12th for a nurse of £4O), the largest ever offered m a boxing match in New Zealand. The latter part of the message is incorrect, because the Hawke’s Bay Having Association gave a £5OO purse and expenses at the tournament held at Hastings at New Year. The purse of £5OO included a donation of £oO by Mr. W. G. Stead. In addition to this, the H.B. Association gave £4O to meh of the contestants for expenses, making a total of £5BO altogether. A 15-round match between Clabby and Tracey will take place at Hamilton on Saturday night for a purse of £4OO and expenses.
