WAR TIME PROHIBITION.
DECLARED CONSTITUTIONAL Washington, Jan. _5. The Supreme Court has decided that the Volstead Act, which enforces wartune prohibition, is constitutional, and beverages containing half per cent or more alcohol are intoxicating and thus cannot be sold.
BLOW TO BREWERS. A BONE-DRY NATION. (Received 7, 9.10 a.m) New York, Jan. 5. The Brewers received 8 severe blow bv the decisions of the Supreme Court that 2.75 per cent of alcohol is illegal. The Court upheld the action of Congress in declaring thu amount intoxicating and preventing the sale of beverages containing one half per cent, or more alcohol. The decision is regarded as a definition that will stand under constitutional prohibition and appears to mean a bone dry nation.—(Reuter.)
