TIMBER MILLS FIRE.
A BIG LOSS. Auckland, Jan. 6. A disastrous fire occurred at Herne Bay this afternoon when the timber mill owned by Cashmore Bros. Ltd., was completely destroyed. The flames spread rapidly and, hampered by lack of water, the brigade had no hope of effecting a save. The estimated value of the mil land plant was between £4,000 and £5,000 and the timber stocks £4,000. The insurances are said to be £5,000. About forty men are temporarily out of work.
