PARDONED.
A PRISONER REWARDED. Christchurch, Jan. 5. With eight months of his sentence still unserved, a prisoner named Arthur Patrick McGuire walked out >f Lyttelton gaol .. New Year’s Day i free man. McGuire, who had been lent to prison on a charge of false iretenc<?s. cumc to the assistance of the warder, James O’Reilly, w-hen the latter was seriously assaulted by Robert Dickson Warden, another orisoner. Acting on the recommendation of the authorities, the Governor-General recently granted him full pardon. Warden was the orisoner who recently made a sensational escape from Mount Eden and ! .vttelton gaols.
